Although many people would never contemplate a walk in their local cemetery, Arnos Vale in Bristol is a true gem, and I count myself exceptionally lucky to live right on its doorstep.
Much of the cemetery's history and current restoration effort is already well documented elsewhere (see links below). This site is simply a random collection of amateur photographs, often snapped on my way through, en route to Tesco. I don't claim any artistic merit - please judge this site by the subject matter, rather than the skill of the photographer.
I'll try to add more pictures as I take them, but this is an occasional page - I'll update it when I can, which may be frequently at some times and seldom at others. If you would like to be advised of updates, please forward me your email address and state clearly that you have no objection to my circulating you with this detail.
NOTE - All the photographs here were taken by me. Please feel free to download or share, provided that you don't claim them as your own or try to make money out of them.
I appreciate that many of the pictures show graves and their inscriptions. I haven't yet met anyone who would mind this, but it's not my intention to intrude on private grief. I will gladly remove any photo which causes offence in this respect.
This site is dedicated to the many people I meet in the cemetery who share my love of the place.
